I close my eyes
for even the briefest moment,
but I see your smile;
A radiant glow, it illuminates
your stunning face and
makes my heart tremble,
But then, just like the damp, still air
before a storm,
I see your smile fade,
into the darkest shadows,
where hope is lost and inspiration
no longer dwells
Like a poison dagger
it stabs...and infects.
An infection of sadness
spreads through my
veins like a disease,
it causes my muscles to weaken
my nerves to sting,
my lips to quiver, and
my words are like winter's slush,
My heart aches, and tears in two,
one grieving, the other in agony.
I attempt to smile,
but its like trying to
enjoy icecream
in the middle of
a blizzard.
As you fade
your memory becomes clearer.
as vivid as if you were
still there right by my side.
But then I open them again
And a see the sweet glow of a sunrise
A morning of happiness,
A smile that can never compare to
a radiance of that caliber,
It reminds me that
It's maker,
is the same one who
created me,
And I am relieved
to know he will provide
he will always be there
and he will allow we
to find someone
perfect in his eyes.
Because of that,
Happiness can
sing its familiar song
and joy can
perform its
ritual dance
As my heart
smiles, my mind
rests, and my soul
shall find its peace.
